This flat Shiboridashi teapot is crafted by ceramic artist and tea master Yukiko Saito of Shigetsu Kiln. It features a calm, off-white tone that showcases the rich texture and innate presence of the natural clay. The soft, fluid form shaped on a kick wheel—a signature of Ms. Saito’s work—creates a captivating contrast with the unglazed, matte surface.
The wide opening allows you to fully enjoy watching the tea leaves expand, and during warmer months, it is also lovely for cold-brewing with ice cubes resting on top. With use over time, the surface will gradually develop a rich, seasoned patina. Holding a practical capacity of around 110ml, it is ideal not only for Japanese sencha, but also for Chinese and Taiwanese teas. A matching piece in black from the same series is also available.

Unglazed teaware naturally absorbs tea oils and darkens with use. Leaving tea leaves inside for long periods will cause deeper staining; we hope you enjoy this evolving patina as part of the piece’s unique character.

If staining becomes a concern, soak the teapot in hot water mixed with baking soda for a few hours, rinse thoroughly, and then submerge in clean water for a short while.
