Cups and saucers by artist Asami Maeda will be on sale from 11am on Saturday, February 22nd.

Cups and saucers by Kyoto-based ceramic artist Asami Maeda will be on sale from 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22nd. They come in two varieties: gray-blue glaze/blue-white porcelain and bronze glaze, and feature intricate, flowing patterns hand-painted using the Icchin technique.

The ash-blue glaze/blue-white porcelain cup and saucer have a calm color like antique porcelain. The cup is decorated with floral cloisonne design and the saucer with floral arabesque pattern, giving it a Japanese feel that is unique to Kyoto-based Maeda.

The bronze glaze has a deep metallic shine. The cup is decorated with a floral cloisonne design, and the saucer is decorated with a floral arabesque design. It is a little on the large side, and the color goes well with tea or coffee.

The gray-blue glaze cups are about 190ml, and the bronze glaze cups are about 210ml, so both have a sufficient capacity that you can use them as mugs for everyday use, or you can use the saucers as dessert plates.
