This is a white porcelain Yuzamashi(hot water pitcher) made by Izushi Ware. Izushiyaki is a historic white porcelain ware produced in Izushi Town, Hyogo Prefecture, and has been produced since the discovery of the raw material in the Edo period in Kakita, Izushi Town.
A yuzamashi is a watepitcher used to cool the water when brewing sencha tea. The surface of the vessel is decorated with a hand-carved chrysanthemum pattern, one of the characteristics of Izushi ware tea utensils, and the carved part is unglazed to create a contrasting texture.
A hohin kyusu and sencha bowl from the same collection are also available. How about enjoying a special tea time with these fresh and elegant white porcelain tea utensils?
