This white-glazed sencha tea bowl was created by ceramicist and tea artist Yukiko Saito of Shigetsu Kiln. The bowl is attractive for its generous and soft shape created on the kick wheel, its appearance reminiscent of old pottery, and its rich expression with iron spots and crazing.
It's fun to watch how it gradually acquires a more refined look as you use it. With a capacity of about 70ml, it can be used as a sake cup as well as a tea cup. There are also teapots and tea pitcher (chakai) from the same series.
