This is a white porcelain teacup from Izushi ware. Izushiyaki is a historic white porcelain ware produced in Izushi Town, Hyogo Prefecture, and the production of porcelain has continued since the discovery of the raw material in the Edo period in Kakita, Izushi Town.
The clean, modern-looking kittate shape is decorated with a hand-carved chrysanthemum pattern, one of the characteristics of Izushi ware tea utensils, on the surface of the vessel, and the carved part is unglazed to create a textural contrast.
A hohin kyusu and a teacup from the same collection are also available. How about enjoying a special tea time with these fresh and elegant white porcelain tea utensils?
