This bronze glazed cup and saucer is by Asami Maeda, a ceramic artist based in Kyoto, Japan. The deep metallic shine of the bronze glaze is impressive, and is decorated with patterns created by the ”Icchin” technique. The cups are decorated with floral cloisonné patterns and the saucers with floral arabesque patterns, as is typical of the Kyoto artist, and the Japanese-inspired expression that retains the flavor of the hand is appealing. The bronze glaze is a color that would go well with coffee.
The cup is large in size at 210ml, so it can be used as a mug for daily use, or the saucer can be used as a dessert plate.
