This is a gray-blue glazed/blue and white porcelain cup and saucer by Asami Maeda, a ceramic artist based in Kyoto. The glaze is a subdued shade of antique white porcelain and is decorated with hand-painted patterns using the ”Icchin" technique. The cup is decorated with a floral cloisonne design and the saucer with a floral arabesque design, as if the artist is from Kyoto, and the cup and saucer have an appealing Japanese expression that retains the flavor of the hand.
The cup has a sufficient capacity of 190 ml, so it can be used as a mug for daily use, or the saucer can be used as a dessert plate.
