This is a Bizen teabowl by Bizen-based ceramic artist Eri Sano. Using Bizen rice paddy soil and mountain soil, she fires unglazed in a cave kiln that inherits the history of Bizen ware, which has its roots in ancient times, using pine trees and mountain bushes as firewood.

The richness of the scenery produced by the fire and the clay is fused with a modern sensibility to create a teabowl that is unique to Sano's work.
