This is an ultra-flat kyusu teapot from the "TOKI" collection by JINSUI, a Tokoname ware potter established in the Edo period, based on the concept of time spent enjoying tea. It is characterized by its calm gray color. This stoneware kyusu is made of high-quality clay and fired by the Tokoname firing method, which is a process that lies somewhere between pottery and porcelain.
The tea strainer is made of the same stoneware as the main body, using a technique unique to Tokoname, and has numerous fine holes in it, so that even relatively fine tea leaves can be poured smoothly.
The characteristic flat shape and thin, lightly fired kyusu are also functional, and create an elegant and enjoyable tea drinking experience. With a capacity of 100ml, this kyusu is ideal for enjoying fine sencha or gyokuro tea.
