This is a white-glazed "shiboridashi" teapot by Yukiko Saito of shigetsu klin, a ceramic artist and tea master. The teapot showcases Saito's signature soft and generous form, created using a kick wheel. The lid is subtly engraved with a peony and arabesque pattern, and when combined with the calm glaze tone that exhibits rich textures, it evokes the impression of an antique ceramic piece.
The wide mouth of the shiboridashi makes it versatile for brewing not only sencha but also larger tea leaves, allowing you to enjoy the sight of the leaves unfurling. Over time, as you use it, the teapot will develop a unique, seasoned character, adding to its appeal. With a capacity of approximately 120ml, it is ideal for brewing tea in multiple infusions. This series also includes a matching water cooler (chahai/pitcher) and sencha teacup.
