This is a medium blue and white porcelain plate by Kyoto-based ceramic artist Asami Maeda. The glaze has the subdued coloring of antique white porcelain, and the hand-painted Ichiin technique is used to create a pattern on the surface. The floral arabesque design is typical of the Kyoto artist, and the plate has an appealing Japanese expression that retains the flavor of the hand. It can be used as a dessert plate or as a cup and saucer in combination with the matching cups.
