This is a white-glazed shiboridashi-kyusu small teapot with a peony arabesque pattern, crafted by Yukiko Saito, a potter and tea artist at Sigetsu Kiln. The soft and generous shape, characteristic of Saito’s work, is created using a kick wheel, and the glaze’s calm, antique-like tone with rich textures, such as crackling, is the charm of this teaware. Its petite size, fitting comfortably in the palm, exudes a condensed elegance. As you continue to use it, you can look forward to the teapot gradually developing a characterful expression. With a capacity of approximately 90–100ml, it’s ideal for multiple infusions of sencha, as well as Chinese or Taiwanese tea. A yuzamashi (tea pitcher) and sencha bowls from the same series are also available.
