This Oshiki (individual meal tray) features the traditional shape known as Ryoka. Each piece is meticulously hand-finished from solid domestic chestnut wood at a woodworking studio in the Tohoku region.
The term Ryoka refers to a flower with pointed petals. Its elegant form carries an exotic, Eastern aesthetic that adds a touch of sophistication to any table setting, whether Japanese or Western.
The underside is crafted with a tapered edge called Tatami-zuri, making it easy to pick up and allowing for stable, stackable storage.
The tray is finished with an inorganic glass coating that highlights the calm tones and rich expression of the chestnut wood. This coating penetrates the material like traditional lacquer without forming a thick film, preserving the natural texture of the wood grain. The coating is a food-safe product, fully compliant with safety standards for tableware.
